About Me

Laka's effectiveness is largely related to her passion for health and well-being! She is able to empathetically see the full picture of her clients and help them navigate the challenges of a busy life in order to achieve their goals. With over 15 years of experience in the nutrition and fitness industry, Laka has a wealth of knowledge on how nutrition, physical activity, and stress management are all related.

Graduating from the University of Missouri - Columbia with a B.S. in medical dietetics and fitness and nutrition, Laka then went onto obtain her M.S. in Clinical Nutrition and American Council on Exercise personal training certification. She has gained a wide range of experience from a variety of settings including fitness centers, acute and long-term care hospitals, a military hospital, and a University.
Outside of her work responsibilities, Laka mentors dietetic interns from several universities, has given guest lectures at the University of Missouri’s College of Nursing, co-hosted Your Health Matters (a local broadcast radio show), and has served as Director at Large of the Missouri Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Client's can expect a thorough initial assessment, nutrition plan if required, and regular feedback and communication in the style and frequency the client prefers.

Training philosophy: Get to know the client and the factors they affect their ability to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Use that information along with the client's input to develop a winning plan.
