Susan is the type of trainer that makes exercise engaging and fun instead of a chore. She has a great deal of experience working with all body types and fitness levels. I feel accomplished and renewed after each session. I highly recommend Susan, especially for the over 50s like myself.

I was looking for someone to teach me how to use my backyard pool for exercise. Susan was the first trainer I contacted and I am so glad that I did.

Early on she showed me that there is so much more to good fitness than doing a few exercises in the water. She is a wealth of information and shows you how to adopt overall fitness goals that include nutrition, physical activity and mental attitude. She is more aware of my physical condition than I am and tailors my workouts to my current level.

I also appreciate that fact that she teaches me several strategies for exercising. To paraphrase her words" it shouldn't be a yes or no answer to the question of will I exercise today, but a question of which type of exercise will I choose to do today A,B, or C".

I wholeheartedly recommend Susan to anyone who is looking to improve their overall health and fitness. I'm glad that I found her.

I trained with Susan Tait from the time I was 60 until she left Ann Arbor. I trained for about 6 years and then thought I could do it on my own and went back to her when I was 70. I trained with her until she left Ann Arbor.
Susan also worked with my mother when she was in her 80’s and was extremely helpful in keeping my mother more flexible and stronger. She was also a positive influence with her as my father had died and Susan is so positive and encouraging and that was very helpful for my mother.
Susan stressed my setting goals and I kept a log of my food intake as that was one of my goals. She was exciting to work with as we never did the same exercises over and over. I accused her of lying awake at night and coming up with new exercises. She had a wide variety of equipment so she would change up her workouts frequently and easily. She watched me closely to be sure I was doing every rep correctly, I feel this is very important in a trainer. She worked all my muscle groups and kept me toned.
Susan also worked with my husband Don. He went twice a week and she kept him strong and worked him out very well. We both enjoyed Susan’s workouts and the fun we had with her doing the workouts.
When I was 70, Susan told me about an all women Triathlons that was going to occur locally. She encouraged me to do it and I did. Susan helped me work out so I would be ready and she was very encouraging and positive. I entered that year and I have been doing them yearly since, I’m now 81. I’ve won every year in my age division. She encouraged the cross training of biking, swimming and walking (I’m not a runner so I walk it). I love that I do it and that she “showed me the way”. One year she joined me and did the tri herself.
Susan is a great trainer, teacher, encourager, reinforcer and friend. I had many great years with Susan and my husband and I were devastated when she left Ann Arbor. Before she left, she interviewed personal trainers in Ann Arbor and gave us recommendations. I’m happy to say that one of the trainers she recommended is the trainer my husband and I use. Without Susan’s help we probably would not have found him.

I worked with Susan for over 10 years before moving out of state. Susan is unique because she doesn't train for one specific thing but rather for the overall individual. For example, teaching nutrition is part of her training because she knows that its obviously a big part of the equation to making lifestyle changes. Susan mixes up routines - indoor, outdoor, gym, park, beach, pool -to keep things always interesting. And she encourages workouts that don't require a lot equipment so if you're on the go travelling or at the office you'll always be able to do some type of workout routine. She keeps detailed notes of sessions so that she is always aware of both a client's current progress as well as his or her fitness history. I have never found a more well rounded or enjoyable training experience since Susan and the things I learned from her I still apply today. I would recommend her to individuals of any age or capacity because she custom tailors sessions based on individual needs. I can't say enough about her fun and personal, but professional and science based training that will change your life.

I recommend Susan very highly!

When I was in my early 40s, my wife gave me an introductory package to Susan’s fitness studio as a birthday or Christmas present (I forget which). My wife now says that my response to her was that it was the worst present I’d ever gotten (spoken like a true couch potato). Well, I could not have been more wrong (if, indeed, I really said that); it was actually life-changing. I continued training with Susan for close to 25 years, up until she moved to Florida. I can truthfully say that I am in better shape now (in my late 60s) than I was in my early 40s, and I enjoy life a lot more.

I had always enjoyed the outdoors, but never did anything particularly adventurous because I simply was not fit enough. In the last quarter century, though, I have taken extended hiking trips in the Rockies, Nepal, Tanzania, and Scotland. I bike and work out with weights and on exercise equipment on a regular basis.

So how did Susan help with this? The first thing Susan did was to teach me how to increase my fitness without injuring myself. So, she taught me the nuts and bolts about how to properly lift weights and do other training, including how to stretch properly before and after exercise. That was probably the easy part. Much more importantly, though, is that she increased and maintained my motivation to be fit. One way she did this was to interrogate me each session about what I had done since our last meeting. It’s remarkable how having to answer to someone for your exercise habits can motivate you to exercise (or to lie, but that’s not my style). She also used a number of other effective motivational techniques.

Even though by the time she left for Florida, I was pretty motivated to exercise, I found that after she left, my time with the weights declined for quite a while, not having her to hector me about it. Fortunately, in recent months I regained “my groove.”

In short, Susan was a huge boon to my life. Obviously, however, it takes two to tango. You can’t count on Susan to do it alone. You have to make the commitment to yourself, as well.

Susan has a really nice presence and I feel very comfortable trying new things and not feeling as if I were doing them wrong. I love training with Susan and I feel like I am so much more healthy and have so much more energy. Her personal training sessions have taught me how to create a varied and effective workout. I have also read Susan book Wellness is your wealth and found it to be very helpful. I highly recommend it.

I trained with Susan for 18 years until she left Ann Arbor. She was great, worked all muscle groups, created new exercises, always interesting, challenging workouts and fun. She was very conscientious and careful. She found a Women's Triathlon that she encouraged me to enter and helped me with my training. I've entered the tri yearly since. Susan has also been the trainer for my husband and has kept him strong. He is amazed at how little his friends are able to do strength wise as he can do so much because he is strong. All this at age 75 and I'm still in the tri and training at 81. Susan is awesome, she has kept us strong and young!!! She is a great trainer.

I've been working with Susan since moving to Florida six months ago and I have seen amazing results in that time. I have never felt stronger or healthier. Susan is passionate about fitness and it shows through the energy and enthusiasm she brings to every session. Her easy going, friendly personality creates a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. She makes each workout challenging, creative and most importantly, fun! She also places a high value on correct form with each exercise. She motivates me to push past my perceived limits to get results. I have incredible energy, my balance and flexibility have improved immensely and I've got great new muscles. If you are serious about changing your life for the better, Susan will lead you every step of the way.

Thank you Susan, you are the best!

Susan Tait, my trainer for 9 years changed my life in a most positive way. She was recommended by a long-time resident of Ann Arbor who had tried a number of coaches and he was in a position to know the best. Susan had both the breadth of knowledge and the experience to help me achieve my goals of weight loss, keeping it off, and living a healthy life style. Susan's approach is collaborative and she listens to me. Each session is structured around how I feel that day, what I did during the week, my goals, and making each session a success. I always felt better after the session and was motivated to continue my activities at home. My weight loss goals were met- I lost 30 pounds; and thanks to her encouragement and sharing her knowledge about current health and wellness issues, I have kept off that weight for 7 years. Even more important-Susan is a complete package- she helps her clients to understand that when they are working on becoming stronger and fitter, their actions are pointed toward positive life-style changes for life. I continue to practice what I have learned from her.

Susan was my fitness and wellness coach for 9 years. Her approach is collaborative geared to my goals. She has the breadth of knowledge of up-to-date research and years of experience working with ages 9-94 years. Susan changed my life in a most positive way. She motivated and educated me about weight loss and helped me to achieve a healthy life style. I have lost 30 pounds and have kept it off and gone down 2 clothing sizes. Susan believes that sessions should be varied and adjusted based on the challenges of the day for the client. I always feel so much better after a session with her. She listens and structures her sessions so that I succeed. Thank you, Susan.
