Hello, hello! My name is Shelby and I am a very versatile and always evolving personal trainer. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State University with a 4.0GPA and learned SO many awesome things that have helped better me as a trainer, which is something I'm ALWAYS looking to do. I have been in the industry for ~3 years now but have been in the gym/training myself for more than 15 years (I started very young). I have a strong athletic background in softball/baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and tennis, so working with athletes to improve performance is very exciting for me. I LOVE training with clients individually or in group settings and absolutely LOVE seeing them progress through training regimens that I provide and the hard work that they put in. It is truly a passion! Additionally, I have a certification in Sports Nutrition through the International Society of Sports Nutrition, so I'd be happy to help in the nutrition aspect of your journey as well! I am super excited to talk with you, work out a plan that is right for you, and get moving! Let's do this thing together!
We will always start with an appropriate warmup/stretch (static or dynamic) with some light conversation to get the session going, and likely some music to get the mind right. Depending on our short- and long-term goals, we will discuss the plan for the day which I will most likely have written for us to refer to throughout the session, then we will get started and I will demonstrate, participate, critique, etc. as necessary and as you prefer! I'll finish things out with a good cool down (rolling out, stretching, light cardio, etc.), we'll discuss the next session and what is expected of you until we meet, talk about anything else you are wanting to know, then we'll be on our way!
My third ever client, when I was first dabbling in personal training, actually had probably one of the most dramatic and successful journeys that I've had anything to do with. She was a college student who came to me wanting to drop some weight and just become familiar with the gym and the mechanisms behind weight loss and muscle growth. After just 4 months of training with her, designing programs for her, and offering nutrition advice, she was able to completely transform her body and mind. In those 4 months, she dropped 10 pounds, toned up significantly, and now is pursuing her Master's in Kinesiology while doing personal training herself. This specific story meant more to me than others because, not only did I help her "get fit," but I instilled in her a lifestyle that she will FOREVER use and share with others. That, to me, is ultimate success.
