Hi, my name is Sharon. Fitness has always been a part of my life - volleyball, dance, weight training, and martial arts-so it was quite a blow when I was sidelined by debilitating pain from a ruptured disk in my spine. After a successful surgery, I pulled a muscle and was bedridden for three months. Over that time my body became extremely deconditioned. It wasn’t until I was able to go to physical therapy that I started to get some relief from the pain. But, for anyone who has gone through physical therapy, we often don’t have enough sessions. Now what? I was an extreme situation, but for anyone who has joint pain or injury, inactivity is not an option. This is why I decided to become a personal trainer—to help people lose weight, get strong, and live a balanced life. I am an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Health Coach, Orthopedic Exercise Specialist, Silver Sneakers Instructor, and graduate of the Body Design University Personal Trainer course. Whether you’re relatively healthy and just want to lose weight and get fit, or if you have prior injuries or conditions, let me help you to get moving!
American Counsil on Exercise
Each one-hour session consists of warming up, stretching, weight training, core work, cardio, and cool down. During the workout I teach, encourage, evaluate, and trash talk for a little fun!
One of my clients is a 74 year-old woman who had knee replacement surgery and was using a walker, was very unstable, and become extremely out of breath after minimal walking. We started out just doing light movements and working on balance. We have now incorporated weights and resistance bands into her workouts, her cardio endurance has improved, she's dropping pounds, and she no longer relies on her walker.
