After having numerous success stories, one in particular stands out. I had a client that ruptured their ACL less than 1 year prior to beginning their collegiate sports career. The Orthopaedic Surgeon reported that patient wouldn’t be ready to play or have adequate strength to be able to play at 100% by the time school started. After seeing her capabilities and limitations for the first time, I knew we would have a quick recovery process. We began with strength training and rehabilitation exercises prior to her surgery date in order for her to have a quicker strength recovery and decreasing bodily compensations. Following surgery we developed a 3 month/6-9 month and 12 month program that went through all stages of her rehabilitation process (acute to chronic to plyometric, strength conditioning and sports specific). With a consistent, challenging and realistic program, and skilled hands on approach, my patient returned to her normal strength in just 4-5 months. We continued with post rehabilitation programming to further better her athletic performance. By the end of our training, she was the strongest, fittest, and healthiest she has ever been, also having a newer understanding for injury rehabilitation and optimized training. She was able to play as a starter in her collegiate career and continued with follow up programming to prevent a plateau.
