My name is Ryan. I grew up in Upper Darby, went to Rutgers University, am currently studying at Thomas Jefferson University, and will be attending USciences for physician assistant school in the fall. I have extensive education in exercise physiology, nutrition, cardiac medicine, rehab training and functional training. Most recently I worked managing a healthcare facility, which specialized in medical nutrition therapy, exercise physiology, small group training and massage therapy. I have worked with countless clients in various capacities as a wellness coach, personal trainer, and exercise physiologist. I am located in Old City Philadelphia and can travel to any greater Philadelphia location. I am able to provide invaluable equipment that can be used anywhere (I love working out outdoors!).
After an initial functional movement screen and program development session, subsequent sessions will focus on achieving client goals through whatever agreed upon means would be the most enjoyable. In general terms, I do corrective movement pattern training to warm-up and prepare for the more strenuous compound movements which are the foundation of most effective exercise programs. I like to finish workouts with short periods of stretching. I use the TRX heavily (which I provide) as it offers variable resistance against countless compound movements. Further, with any TRX exercise, you are forced to engage your core which adds to the effectiveness of any workout and exercise routine.
I have worked with many clients and helped them achieve their goals. A specific regular client of mine was a recent new mom who was looking to lose her baby weight. We were able to get her back to her pre-baby weight but more importantly actually REDUCED her waist measurements from her pre-baby days. We trained twice per week and she took general nutritional advice. One of the most extreme success stories was with a client in her mid 50's who had just elected to have a gastric bypass. Bypass alone will help lose significant weight, but we were able to keep muscle on and her energy up and at the end of the day she lost 240 lbs and 20 inches around her waist.
