I have been a personal trainer, educator and fitness manager for more than 15 years. I train a variety of clients who are interested in strength training and weight loss. In addition, I train clients with orthopedic injuries and women who are pre and post natal. I played competitive tennis and baseball growing up.
I like to start with a dynamic warm up. Than I like to use corrective exercise to work on any imbalances the client might have. I will use the foam roller to help loosen them up. Than I usually like to go into a strength training workout with my clients. For other clients I will have them do circuits to help with weight loss. At the end of the session I will stretch my clients out.
When I first started training I had a client that trained with me three times per week. I started him on a running program that he could do after our resistance training workout. The resistance training workout I would do chest/shoulders/triceps on day one. On day two I would do biceps/back/legs on day two. During rest periods I would talk with him in regards to nutrition. I had him write a journal for a week so I could make suggestions on what to eat and how many times a day he should be eating. After a year of training my client lost more than 60 lbs.
