Every time a client shares an hour with me they leave feeling invigorated, open, and knowledgable. Each session consists of a 5-12 minute functional movement warm up and some mobility work followed by a well-planned training program that is tailored specifically to the client's needs.
"At 5'-2", 136 pounds, I was ready for a change. 7 months after I had my second son, the "I just had a baby" couldn't be used as an excuse anymore. I was pinning my work pants closed, using my inhaler almost daily and I was just tired of being overweight. I felt that it was about time to utilize the gym membership I had and to stop making excuses for myself. I met Rani Mulhem in November 2009. I actually had to reschedule our first session because I had the flu. When I talked to him on the phone for the first time, he was very understanding and actually gave me tips on what to eat so I could feel better. I had a good feeling about him after that conversation. When we finally had our first session, we sat down and talked about goals. Aside from the weight, I told him that I wanted to be able to run up the stairs at BART (The Bay Area's public railway system) and not feel like collapsing when I reached the top. As a working mom, my main concern was time. Would I be able to keep up with a workout routine? Rani assured me that not only would I be able to keep up but that I would enjoy doing so. I have to admit I was skeptical but his optimism was contagious and as difficult as that first month was, I found myself starting to enjoy working out. Rani is extremely sweet and motivating. He pushes me without being overbearing or intimidating, yet encourages me to push myself beyond my "comfort" zone. The routines he designed for me were challenging yet fun to do. Over the next 12 months, Rani introduced more difficult exercises and routines and I was starting to see the results not only on the scale but in my clothes. My family and friends started to notice my weight loss as well. I am currently at 121lbs and went from a size 12 to a size 4. What I love about shopping now is that instead of reaching for mediums and larges, I can confidently go straight to the small and extra-small sizes. I was never a size 4, not even as a teenager. To say that I am now with 2 boys is such a great feeling. I actually brought my size 12 jeans to the gym one night because it's something Rani would have to see to believe. Not only did I reach my goal in losing weight, I can proudly say that I run up the stairs at BART every morning and have not used my inhaler in almost a year. Rani was there for me every step of the way. The only thing I gained in the past year is a wonderful friend."
