HI, my name is Randy. I make sure I can give my clients the highest quality training tailored to their needs. I am always hungry for more knowledge that is why I specialize in a wide range of disciplines. I currently specialize in corrective exercise, performance enhancement, behavioral change, fitness nutrition, human movement, group fitness, as well as more select population specializations: women, senior, youth. I am also a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach. I've trained groups of people since I was in High school. At first I trained with high school athletes and then collegiate athletes while i was in school. I graduated with a microbiology degree and went into the biotechnology field before deciding to become a full-time personal trainer as a career. I started out at In-Shape Health Clubs and quickly rocketed to a full schedule and was promoted as soon as I was eligible after working there for a year. I am looking to expand my training to those outside of a gym as I continue to grow by getting more certifications and eventually becoming a NASM Master Trainer.

What to Expect

A client can expect to learn how to exercise with the proper form, the reason why we are doing this exercise and why this fits into their goals. A client can expect a gentle push from me to bring out the best in themselves through positive reinforcement. The exercises is one thing, but learning about how to create good habits, disciplining oneself and being self-proficient is something my clients learn as well.

Client Success Story

I've worked with a very broad range of clients. I wanted to share a few different success stories 1. Let's call this client F. F has been at a desk job for decades. She has been so focused on her job that before she knew it she had gain a few pounds, or tens of pounds. She weighed just shy of 300 lbs when she first met me. She was quiet, yet I could see the determination in her eyes. We started training with each other 2x a week, then 3x a week. At first she was not able to do a full squat or lunge. She would constantly get frustrated with herself, but I kept reminding her that this is a progress. I would tell her every week what the plan was and after every month we would reevaluate. Every month we would lay out what the points of emphasis was for the month and why it is important moving forward. We also set goals for herself to work on outside of her sessions because fitness is a lifestyle. There were good months. There were not so good months, but even in the not so good months we would keep our heads up and continue through it because sometimes things happen in life that is out of our control. She still works with me now and after a year of work, she's lost more than 60 lbs of pure fat, and gained over 10 lbs of muscle! We will continue working together and make the second year even greater than the first one! 2. Let's call him K. K had an allergic reaction to antibiotics that destroyed the muscles in his pelvic floor and previous injuries to his lower extremities that made it difficult for him to balance. He would have shooting pains into his groin. He had been working with a physical therapist for several months and wanted to enhance his rehabilitation. We worked together for 5 months. We built a very gentle program that went slow at the pace that he could handle. K was a former engineer and always had questions. I was more than happy and able to answer. In these 5 months he had reduced his pain significantly and built up enough strength to get his life back. He couldn't bird watch with his group of retired friends as he used to. He had a 2 month vacation back in his home country and he was able to bird watch and travel with confidence and have a great time! He had such a great time that when he came back he had already planned another vacation for just a month later. He texted me that after that one he will return and continue our sessions to get even better! 3. Let's call him D. D has been active for most of his life. He used to do martial arts and injured himself many years ago. He had put on some weight over the years. At first D was very cynical of anything we were doing. He would question our methods. We talked about nutrition and he wanted his own independence on his nutrition. I didn't push anything on him. I said sure, you take care of your nutrition side and I look forward to seeing the results, but if you need help I will be here for you. After a couple months, he was getting frustrated at his lack of results. We worked together to pinpoint the issues. After making some adjustments to salt and sugar intake (especially in times of high stress) and controlling portions, he started feeling a lot better and achieving results with his weight loss. D had never really considered stretching. He was from an old school train of thought that stretching and warm up and cool down were not important. He started one day feeling a lot of pain in his knees. I knew his squat/walking mechanics were off and suggested to him to stretch and warm up every day. He begrudgingly started doing it and now he says his pain went from a 7 to a 0.5 on a scale of 10. Now D knows the importance of not only just pushing weights, but it is all aspects, from breathing properly, stretching, nutrition, sleep, that plays into looking and feeling better.

This Thursday, 5/13, marks 6 months since I first talked to Randy. I first started out as a nutritional client, and after the first week of losing 4.8 lbs (including 0.8% body fat), I wanted more. I pretty much resigned to the fact that I would always be a big girl, but, now, Randy made my goals feel *achievable.* I had a time table with NO ROOM for dabbling here and dabbling there. I was tired of nothing working, and tired of throwing in the towel. Four months later, I lost 50 lbs. My triglycerides went from 258 to 103, Hgb A1C from 7.3 to 5.8 (and going down), no more protein in the urine. I got off Norvasc 5mg, Lisinopril 40 mg to 10 mg, Metformin from 1000mg to 500 mg... AND my doc deleted the diagnosis of Diabetes from my chart! Deciding to work with Randy was one of the best decisions I ever made! It’s been rather easy — and that’s because Randy isn’t into fads or restrictive diets. He is unlike any other trainer, and will tell you things most won’t tell you . My advice is to throw as much money as you can afford towards these efforts, DO whatever Randy tells you to do, and you WILL get to your goals. I can hardly believe I’ve just been working with Randy for not even 6 months, and it could be the same for you too!

I’m a bodybuilder and worked with 3 other personal trainers in the past before working with Randy. I’ve seen results with each one but what makes Randy stand out from the rest is addressing my knocked knees and other issues and solving it. I thought I just have to live with my knocked knees but he shown me the importance of corrective exercise as it effects my performance and results. He has given me exercises to help my knees feel better while achieving my fitness goal of losing bodyfat and building muscle.

In addition, I struggled with developing my glutes and hamstrings. I was always quad dominant. He created workouts that compliments and works well with my body.

Randy is an absolute top trainer. At our first session he did a thorough assessment of my strength, stability, balance, flexibility, and injuries. Combining that with my muscle-fat ratio, my goals, and exercise likes/dislikes allowed him to customize a plan specifically for me.

His training sessions are excellent. He's a clear communicator and explains things to whatever degree needed. I can't afford to have injuries while I'm working to always improve my physical health and I've come to trust Randy's knowledge and watchful eye. I'm excited about the great progress that's underway with my physical health.

If you want to get great fitness results, feel motivated, and enjoy the process, Randy is for you! He gets my highest recommendation.

Randy’s expertise and knowledge is awesome. He helped me stay motivated and seemed to instinctively know how to motivate me. He’s not pushy or intimidating and he makes having a personal trainer a very personal experience. He also provides great nutritional guidance that helped me attain my immediate goal. I have no doubt he will get me to my ultimate goal.
