Hello! My name is Nick and I am D.C. area martial artist and personal trainer. I've worked in the fitness industry for the past 5 years, originally starting out as Head instructor at Midshore-martial arts, a self-defense and fitness studio in Easton MD. Like many I wanted to help others and work on my own terms, so I completed my NASM certification and started working as a licensed PT in the D.C. metro area and online! In addition to working free lance I have worked with Washington Sports Clubs, and Vida Fitness, both of which you probably have heard of if you are a DMV local. Current Fitness Certifications: NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Trainer, and Corrective Exercise Specialist Functional Range Conditioning Specialist Functional Movement Screen Level 1 Purple Belt BJJ Second Degree Black Belt Tang Soo Do In addition to strength training I do private self-defense Brazilian Jiu-jitsu lessons. I specialize in Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu jitsu primarily and have competed in both. I have over a decade of experience and martial arts is my passion above all else, and I love to teach. For BJJ lessons I am primarily sports focused, and can coach in both gi and no-gi. With my experience and expertise I can guarantee results that you can see and feel. I also guarantee a routine that is effective, safe, and intelligently designed. Please consider booking me for a session! Amidst Covid-19 I am training clients worldwide via virtual training. I will design the session based on your available space, furniture, and available equipment. In addition to virtual sessions I also can provide custom workout plans based on your goals and athletic readiness. I plan to continue this going forward as well as we move past the crisis.

What to Expect

Our first session will be mostly comprised of an interview and a few movement assessments. We use this time to establish clear goals, go over exercise history and experience, and test first hand exactly where you are at in terms of physical conditioning. From there I will develop your programming, and we will get our first workout in with our remaining time. Going forward from there sessions are either 30 minutes or 55 minutes. Most clients can expect a 5-10 minute warm-up, and a 45 min workout. I enjoy high intensity training with my clients, which reflects my mixed martial arts background, but I also specialize in corrective exercise strategy and functional strength workouts. No equipment is necessary for PT, but I often implement barbells, dumbells, TRX, medicine balls, kettle-bells, and battle ropes into my clients programming for when I can come in person.

Client Success Story

When I first started working with Lindsey was unable to do a pushup. She was very athletic in her past, but after having 3 kids she was not quite where she was in her 20s. The great thing about Lindsey is that she is driven, and responds great to instruction. Within a few months pushups on her knees became easy and she was able to upgrade to doing them elevated on a bench. a bit after that standard pushup's became the norm, and today she is doing push-ups suspsended on TRX. She's dropped 15 lbs, and can handle almost anything I throw at her whether it be Romanian Deadlifts, battle ropes, or burpees. She's currently preparing for the Cherry blossom 10k this Spring in D.C.!

Nick is great at motivational training, and he is always willing to go at your own pace. He does not keep it boring. I would recommend him for any level of training experience.

I have definitely gotten stronger an increased my stamina since I started my sessions.

I’ve been training with Nick for nearly six months now and couldn’t be happier with my results and the process.

Nick listened to my training goals and tailored my workout plans to match. Each session starts with a time-efficient yet effective warm up to calibrate the body. Then the main show.

Nick takes care to carefully structure each workout around your goals, and adapt them as your progress or goals change. Working with Nick, I have been able to add lean muscle mass, improve power/strength, and cut body fat through a variety of heavy weight training, creative and challenging circuits, and cardio exercises. Nick incorporates new variations or althogher new exercises to keep workouts exciting and challenging, including mace workouts!

Perhaps most importantly, aside from my fitness progress since working out with Nick, is that this progress achieved injury-free! Nick’s strict diligence to correct form and working with your body not against it allows you to push yourself without hurting yourself and setting you back from recovering. Nick is knowledgeable about sports injuries and is able to subsitute or modify certain exercises as necessary, while working to still improve or strengthen that problem area or muscle group.

All that to say, I would highly recommend Nick to anyone looking to achieve real progress on their fitness goals. Whether those goals are improving body composition (more muscle, less fat), better agility, added strength, or just want to learn new exercises like using a steel mace in your at-home routine, Nick can help you make it happen.
