I am a certified personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine. I have at least six years of training others in various goals from weight loss, strength training, to self-defense and balance improvement. I am a former student in Tae Kwon Do and currently training in Capoeira (Brazilian African Martial Arts). I have eight years experience in career firefighting and EMT training. I specialize in core training and calisthenics. I believe you are not truly strong unless you can control your own body weight. I emphasize form and injury prevention to keep my clients training and less time healing from injuries that could have been prevented. I keep my own private records of my clients to help show them their own progress and to keep moral high and them training.

After a consistent month of training I had a client (who was struggling with weight loss) come in for a reassessment. Her goal was to lose weight and become stronger. She jumped on the scale and almost started to cry; she had gained 4 lbs since her last weigh in. I calmed her down and told her the reasons why this had happened and she was skeptical about it. Well she agreed to do the performance evaluation tests (including but not limited to a push-up, sit up, plank, and wall sit) and to her amazement she surpassed if not doubled all of her scores. I told her a scale is only a supplemental tool in measuring progress and to never get caught up on just a simple read out. I asked her three very important questions. Has her energy level improved? Did she notice her clothes not fitting as snug as they were? Was she starting to like the way she looked in the mirror? All three questions were answered with a resounding yes and with the results from her reassessment we both agreed that the training was moving in the direction she wanted.
