Tafoya's Unconventional Fitness - facebook/instagram I started my fitness journey about five years ago and it was for a change in myself. After reaching my goals I began running races and started incorporating OCR racing. OCR changed my outlook and I strived to become a trainer to help others reach their goals. It also opened the door to my unconventional approach to training.
National Academy of Sports Medicine
I take a more unconventional approach to training. An hour session includes stretching, warmup, workout strength and conditioning as well as a deep stretch to end the session. I use kettlebells, sandbags, ropes, sledgehammers and other not-so-typical training tools.

When I started with Micah, I hadn't worked out consistently for at least 3 years. I was bigger than I'd ever been and honestly nervous to jump back into things. She encouraged me, gave me tips on how to eat healthier, and challenged me. Each day I was doing something that I never thought I'd be able to do. When things get too easy, she makes you set a new goal, but she never gives a task to someone that she doesn't 100% believe they are capable of doing (even if they don't realize that they can do it themselves). Each work out is different. Some days you may be outside with kettle bells and other days you may be pushed to go uphill with a sandbag. Each workout of course is modified for that specific client, but if you follow the plan she has set for you, then you'll definitely reach your goals when it comes to your body appearance and what you can do. Encouragement, support, and a kick in the rear sometimes is what I believe a good trainer does, and Micah definitely does all three. She helped me achieve so many of my goals, and she opened the door for me to live a healthier lifestyle.
Micah has been a great trainer. I am very lazy when it comes to working out. She provides encouragement and a variety of workouts which she knows I will enjoy: running, hiking, obstacles, and kettle bell training. She really believes in what she does and her enthusiasm is contagious!
