After several years of being a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, I decided to take my training expertise to the next level. This is when I became a METI Medical Exercise Specialist (MES). As a trainer, I was trained to work with asymptomatic clients, but as a medical exercise specialist I am able to work with symptomatic clients. Thus, a number of my clients have been referred by physical therapists. Many have completed physical therapy, but have residual issues from their condition or injury. Some continue to work with their physical therapist, but will work with me at the same time. Others want to get in the gym and get stronger, but don't know where to start. In many cases, clients ended up in physical therapy because they weren't moving in an efficient or safe manner. This brings me to the fact that most of us are dealing with muscular imbalances or have some sort of movement deficiency. As an overwhelmingly sedentary society and simply as humans who do weird things and move in unique ways, we tend to have issues big and small. Thus, my focus is to provide clients with a foundation. You have to start with the fundamentals. With the beginning of every program we evaluate and tackle weaknesses before embarking on more challenging or intense workouts. With this calculated approach I am able to minimize injury and maximize results. When I am not training and developing my newly formed company Fight 2B Fit DC, I love being outdoors when it's warm and hot, trying new foods, spending time with family and friends, traveling, hopping on roller coasters, sliding down water slides and embarking on new adventures.

I have worked with clients with knee issues, who are now able to enjoy activities like scuba diving and bike riding because they now have the strength and stability to do so. I have been working out with Marita for eight years. She is, in a word, a terrific trainer and, in opinion, an extraordinary human being. I am almost twice her age and getting to know her over time has been an unalloyed pleasure.

She has a clear idea what I am capable, what my limits are, and where and when to push me to go beyond what I have done before. Her class is always a challenge in the most positive way imaginable.

My aim in working out is not to become a muscle man but to maintain my strength and stamina. I also take exercise classes (on Zoom) but a one-to-one workout with Marita helps me to pinpoint problems and to learn what to do about them.

Moreover, her classes are always enjoyable. She demonstrates moves, suggests ways I can do them with better form, and shows great patience since I am not the best coordinated person in the world.

Marita has a great sense of humor and her positive view of life and life's challenges is highly contagious.
