My passion for running started at age 12. It continued through high school where I ran Cross Country and Track and carried on at a collegiate level where I ran with the first women's Cross Country team at Midwestern State University. We qualified for Regionals our first year. I ran my first marathon on February 19, 2012 at the Livestrong Austin Marathon. I finished 19 out of 302 in my division and was just over 5 minutes shy of qualifying for the Boston Marathon with a time of 3:40:33. I participated in the 2012-2013 Austin Fitness Magazine Distance Challenge and placed 4 out of 33 in my age group. I placed 1st in my age group at the Rockwall Patriot Half Marathon in March 2013. I placed 2nd in my age group at The Discovery Trail Marathon in Colorado Springs in September 2014 with a time of 3:36:41. I'm still chasing Boston. Thankfully I only need to improve my time by two minutes and I'm there! I focus on techniques that have helped me succeed. I like to start off by focusing on running form, a dynamic warm up, building a solid foundation for base miles, proper stretching and avoiding repeat/interval sessions until competition date draws near. Over the years I have added yoga, Pilates Mat, Barre, weight training, and cycling to my fitness regimen. As an ACE Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, my goal is to improve the athlete’s speed, strength, agility, conditioning, and power, while aiding in injury prevention. The sessions are dependent and customized based on the client's goals. A general session will consist of a dynamic warm-up to loosen up the muscles and joints for injury prevention. The meat of the session is to get the heart rate up, strengthen the body and mind, and burn calories through plyometric exercise and drills. Each session closes with a cool down and stretch. Tell me about your goals and let's get started!
