Hi, my name is Laura. After working at a tech company for over 10 years, I made a career change about 3 years ago to become a full time personal trainer and follow my passion for helping people pursue a healthier, stronger, and happier life through fitness. I worked at Equinox for over 2 years as a personal trainer and also coached CrossFit. I'm currently working part time at personal training gym in Syosset, as well as training my own clients both in person and virtually. I have worked with clients ranging in age from 13 to 85 years old, and have helped with goals of weight loss, fat loss, strength and muscle gains, cardiovascular endurance, marathon training, injury rehab, mobility and athletic training. I love working one on one with people and helping them commit to living a long and healthy life.

What to Expect

Depending on what the client's goals are, I tailor my training programs accordingly. But typically I begin with a 5 minute warmup, then do some mobility/stretching. The main part of the workout focuses on resistance training to improve strength and movement quality, and I usually finish the session with a conditioning piece to get in some cardiovascular work. I like to incorporate both upper and lower body movements with a focus on functional movements that will translate to living a better quality of life, as well as a focus on core strength which is key in injury prevention.

Client Success Story

One of my clients was training for his FBI physical fitness test, he had failed it once before and decided to hire a trainer to ensure that didn't happen again. His main areas for improvement were in his cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance and running technique. Over 3 months training together, we were able to increase his running technique and increase his cardio endurance which lead him to pass the test with plenty of buffer room. That was a huge win for him and myself, as I know how much it meant for him and his path in life to be able to take the next step in his career. Another client success story I would like to share is of a former football player who was afraid to go back into the weight room after past bad experiences where he ended up inuring his back doing squats and deadlifts incorrectly. We worked together to improve his form, as well as strengthen his core to get him to a place where he could squat and deadlift pain free again. Just knowing how excited he was to be able to get back into the weight room was extremely rewarding and I was very happy for him (I still am), We also helped him lose weight and tone up for his wedding that occurred during our training together.
