Lanie's journey to becoming a personal fitness trainer began with a boxing and kickboxing class. She loved it and within a matter of months, was recruited for competition. Once she decided to turn professional as a boxer, she never looked back. Her training and hard work earned Lanie a stellar boxing record and a ranking of 6th in the world. After Lanie retired from boxing she incorporated more than 15 years of health and fitness experience into becoming a certified personal trainer, to help others to achieve their goals. She listens to find the objectives of each person and works with them to design a plan unique to their needs. Her clients include teens, busy moms, seniors and marathon runners.
ACSM
A typical session will start with a quick physical assessment including body composition measurements, HR measurements and a cardiovascular test. Lanie will run through a proper 10 minute functional full body warm-up session and will then conduct a few simple strength and flexibility exercises to assess for any areas that need work, and any postural considerations. For beginners, principles of safe functional exercise, and core work. Lanie aims to re-awaken large muscle groups, challenge your stabilizer muscles and fire up your metabolism enormously. At this stage you will rarely much need more than very small dumbbells and you will likely marvel at how much these exercises challenge. Functional exercises also have a strong cardio effect as movements are usually large, sometimes whole-body exercises with almost all major and minor muscle groups in play.
