About Me

I was born and raised in Austin, graduating from The University of Texas. I grew up in a neighborhood with 16 other kids my age that all became above average athletically. We spent practically every day playing sports, so from an early age sports were a big part of my life and I developed a great foundation. From this, a passion to learn and be good at sports grew into an obsession. Also because of this, I could not stand being bad at things. I started to stay away from trying new things because I had developed a fear of failure. I did not want other people to think I was not good at something. This followed me up until I found CrossFit in 2009. CrossFit was this amazing program, introduced to be by the other co-owner of CrossFit City Limits, Blake Holman, which gave high intensity workouts that kicked my ass and I loved it! CrossFit slowly started to change how I look at everything in my life, in work and in social situations. With scaled workouts that challenged me mentally and physically, CrossFit started getting rid of my fear of failure. For CrossFit, you have to leave your ego at the door and be prepared to have people see you at your lowest, as you try as hard as you can to struggle through a workout. This is only one of the countless benefits CrossFit brought to my life outside the gym. Once hooked, I did not like not being good at CrossFit, so I began the arduous task of rectifying that. I started reading and watching everything I could get my hands on that discussed proper form of the different movements used by CrossFit programming, nutrition, mobility, etc. I started prescribing to the Paleo-Zone diet and I had confidence that if I worked hard and focused on learning proper form, benefits would come and they have. I now have my CrossFit Level-1, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, and CrossFit Movement and Mobility Certificates and have coached thousands of classes and could not be happier with my progress and the progress of my clients.

What to Expect

A typical session is totally up to the client. I like to lead clients through a dynamic warm-up with some mobility exercises and then coach through any movements we will be doing that day. We will typically do some strength or skill work and then a higher intensity work-out. Afterwards we will cool-down with some more quality movements and some mobility. Each person has different goals, so the sessions are customized to get the most out of each hour.
