I am a 32 year old happily married mother of two who has lived in Austin, Texas for just under 10 years. I am a Registered Cardiac Sonographer through Cardiovascular Credentialing International, I have a current healthcare provider CPR certification through the American Heart Association, and I am also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association. I graduated from Sandford Brown Institute in Dallas, Texas in 2006, where I studied adult cardiac ultrasound. I worked in the medical field for seven years performing adult echocardiograms and cardiac stress testing. I volunteered several hours for the people's community clinic in Austin, Texas, performing free echocardiograms for patients. I have also performed several free heart screenings for UT Athletics through the St. David's Medical Center and hundreds of young athlete free heart screenings through Championship Hearts Foundation. Over the years I have learned first hand the challenges of making healthy lifestyle changes in our busy lives today and the importance of having a healthy life balance. I learned so much about myself and found a new love for fitness, and overall balance of health. I decided that I wanted to share what I had learned with others to help them reach their goals as well. This is when I began to study to become a personal trainer. I am now a Certified Personal Trainer helping others to reach their goals. I am a self employed CPT teaching group exercise classes several days a week and training on an individual basis. I am also employed by the Northwest YMCA of Austin as a personal trainer, a LesMills CXWORX instructor, and a group fitness class instructor. I also teach The Happy Kitchen cooking classes, through the Sustainable Food Center, teaching others general cooking and nutrition education.

Our first session together will be an assessment to see where your current fitness level is. Each following session will include a dynamic 5-10 minute warm up to start, followed by the workout for the day and then we will cool down and stretch before you leave. Please note that even though we will follow the same routine (warm-up, exercise, cool down) there really is no "typical" training session. I feel that each training session should be specifically designed for the client, with their goals and needs in mind. This is why I routinely change up the workouts for my clients while keeping the clients current level of fitness in mind. I fell it is important to use our surrounding environment to our benefit and work with what we have available, so my clients know how to get a great workout in wherever they are! Please know that I am here for you! Our time together is your time! If there is something specific you would like to cover or talk about during our session, do not hesitate to let me know.

She makes me feel comfortable and is very knowledgable. She is very encouraging and motivating!!! Plus she mixes up her work outs and I love that!!
I will continue my work outs with Kara and recommend her to my friends.
This summer, I had the pleasure of working out with Kara 2 days a week for 5 weeks. The only reason why I have stopped working out with Kara is due to the fact that I am moving away. If it wasn't for my move, I would definitely continue working out with Kara. She created awesome, fun, entertaining work outs for our group every week and they were always different! She is very knowledgable in all areas of fitness and health, and always had the perfect way of motivating you to achieve your goals. I would recommend Kara to everyone I know because she truly cares about your health!
