About Me

Hello! My name is Joe and I am a masters student at Kent State University studying Exercise Physiology. I am a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the national strength and conditioning association (NSCA). My entire collegiate coursework, including anatomy, biomechanics, biology and immunology, has tied in perfectly to my passion for exercise, in that I have used knowledge in the classroom and lab to better myself and others in the fitness and wellness community. I believe that getting to know an individual on a personal level will go much further than treating you simply as a just another client. I strive to get to know your unique self, situation, experiences, concerns and goals, because after all there is not one single method of training that works for all. Our sessions will consist of an individualized and organized plan that progresses toward the goals we set for yourself. Our first session will always be free, since that session is by far the most important to me.

What to Expect

During a training session we will always begin with a warm up which will lead into the specific focus of that day, whether it is an aerobic run/bike/elliptical, weight training day (free weights, machines, body weight), flexibility, power or speed, these days depend on the original plan we put together when we first meet. When we first start out, depending on your training experience, we will typically start out at a lighter intensity/effort so that we can practice proper form and get acquainted with the equipment. I am always happy to answer any questions about why we do something or how something we do works.

I had an individual come up to me when I was training alone in the gym just to ask some general questions of what I was doing. I began to see him more often and we eventually started to exercise together. He was a small frame but had a huge heart for exercise and wellness. So we then started setting times to meet, and eventually he became my first unofficial clients. After about 4 months of training, he transformed from this naive and weak beginner, into someone who I look up to even to this day. He acquired the knowledge to now train himself, who now has a very impressive physique and a solid strength base, and his urge to better himself has only grown. This person is the reason I carry out my practice with the mentality that I do. The time I had to train with him was infinitely better because I saw him as a person, and perhaps a friend, rather than a client.

Joe is a cerftified strength and conditioning specialist and the time he put into his education to obtain that qualification, shows. His knowledge of proper lifting form and coaching cues allow me to feel confident even as a novice lifter.
