In May 2012, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Salisbury University with a B.S. in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning and a minor in Athletic Training. While at Salisbury, I was an intern strength and conditioning coach and worked with a variety of sports, including baseball, softball, M&W basketball, soccer, football, track and field, volleyball, and field hockey. Most recently, I was a strength and conditioning coach for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. During my time with the ski team, I worked with Olympic athletes, particularly the freestyle moguls and aerials team and the Under-18 Alpine team. In addition to my coaching experience, I am a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I am also certified in CPR, AED, and first aid through the American Red Cross. Each session is designed to help achieve client goals including weight loss, sport specific training, strength, agility, flexibility and proper nutrition.
We will start with a dynamic warm-up, followed by core activation. Then, depending on the client's goal, we will do speed and agility, plyometrics, and/or resistance training. We will finish the session with static stretching.
I had a client coming off of a previously broken leg with a severe strength deficit and discomfort in the affected leg. After six months of training, I was able to return his strength and power in his affected leg within 5 percent of his non-affected leg. He also had zero complaints of pain or discomfort in his previously broken leg.
