Hi, my name is Jacob. I received my bachelor's of Kinesiology from Calvin University. I am also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) who are the oldest and one of the most recognized exercise science governing bodies in the United States established in 1954. ACSM does research in exercise science and related fields that provide physicians, exercise physiologists, and personal trainers with the latest guidelines for exercise prescription. I am a ACSM certified exercise physiologist which means that I am sufficiently trained to conduct and interpret physical fitness assessments and develop exercise prescriptions for people who are healthy or have medically controlled diseases. I am an avid runner who was a collegiate athlete. I participated in track and cross country as a long distance runner. Moreover, I have deep interests in coaching distance runners. I have obtained my USATF Level 1 coaching certification and I currently coach a semi-professional distance runner who runs for the HOKA One One Aggies team.

It is hard for me to say what you would expect to get from a typical training session because it is entirely based on your needs. Exercise is a form of medicine. We would not expect a doctor to prescribe the same medicine to everyone so do not expect me to prescribe the same exercise to everyone. The only thing you should expect is the exercise you need to achieve your goals. Nothing more. Nothing less.
One of the athletes I train runs semi-pro for a team in San Fransico. She joined the Hoke One One Aggies team and quickly rose to the top of the ranks earning her a spot at the USATF Club Nationals in 2019. With her help, her team won USATF Club Nationals. Despite the horrendously muddy conditions she got close to her personal best in the distance missing it by only ten seconds. She is continuing to get better and I cannot wait to see what else she accomplishes.
