Hi my name is Grayson and I am the climbing team coordinator as well as a Coach/Trainer at Summit Strength and Fitness in Madison Wisconsin. After starting the Wisconsin Climbing Team in my senior year of college, two years ago, I went on to continue my coaching at Summit Strength and Fitness and found a real passion in seeing others achieve their climbing goals too! During the last two years I strive to broaden my coaching to include non-climbing oriented training, and it has been exciting seeing others regain strength and meet goals. I now believe that no matter what you pursuit, that there is nothing more special then to regain or gain greater freedom from a healthy strong body.
I make my training goal oriented and fully encompassing, meaning we will focus on all the aspects that materialize your success piece by piece. I prefer to focus on more technical or new movements and skills while working together and then giving you weekly work to do between sessions. The weekly work will build and change over time, and I also offer full day to day specific training plans for an additional charge.
My favourite success story comes from when I first started coaching a young women on the founding Wisconsin Climbing team who was new to climbing but highly engaged and passionate. Through the first year she gained more and more traction in her climbing abilities and through paired workouts and working with her outside on real rock as well, I saw her become a more confident person and an adept climber. Today she now teaches others to climb as well, sharing her passion and teaching others how to care for the environment we practice our sport in. Being able to educate and embolden someone to the point which they can then lead, be self-confident, and raise awareness in others was and is why I started coaching and still coach today.
