I provide a one stop shop for all of your exercise and nutrition needs! I am an exercise physiologist, certified personal trainer, group exercise instructor, Pilates teacher and dancer as well as a Registered Dietitian. My combination of exercise and nutrition services, combined with my extensive academic background in each, will help you get the results you're looking for - whether you want to lose weight, build muscle, look more toned, get in shape, develop an exercise routine, or learn how to eat right and exercise for life. I have a Master's in Exercise Physiology from Columbia University and designed my own major in college to study exercise science, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, kinesiology and psychology. I completed my training as a Registered Dietitian through NYU's graduate nutrition program, as I strongly believe in helping clients achieve their goals holistically through personalized nutrition in addition to exercise. My extensive academic backgrounds in exercise, nutrition and health provides the basis for my programs. I design all of my clients' workouts based on the most up-to-date exercise science principles as well as client needs and goals. I also create an individualized meal plan for each client, provide assistance with eating behaviors, and offer constant support. I have worked with a broad spectrum of clients spanning a variety of ages, weights, and fitness levels: I have helped individuals who want to lose weight, get in shape, overcome disordered eating, reduce chronic pain , increase energy, improve health and enhance daily functioning. I have also worked with clients with various issues and injuries, including lower back pain, arthritis, poor balance, scoliosis, joint instability, cardiac disease, and diabetes. I view each client as whole person, taking into account his/her entire lifestyle and health status in order to forge the best possible path towards the client's goals. I have danced since age 3, trained in the Alexander Technique method of postural re-training, and practiced classical Pilates mat and equipment work for the past 10 years to counter imbalances caused by my scoliosis. This extensive movement training gave me a deep understanding of the body, posture, and alignment, which infuses all of my teaching endeavors: I ensure clients exercise with proper form and can apply good postural habits to help them reap the maximum benefits from all exercises while preventing injury. I study fitness and conditioning with some of the best trainers in New York City and California, and apply what I continually learn to help my clients reach their goals. Having faced lifelong challenges and struggles with exercise, body image and nutrition, I have a deep level of empathy for all clients who want to improve their health and quality of life. I blend my academic knowledge, movement training, and personal experience to craft individualized plans, boost support, and help every client find balance and optimal wellness - to achieve balanced wellness.

A training session with me will be smartly planned, challenging, form-focused, personalized, and fun. I use sound exercise science principles to ensure that each session is properly designed with a dynamic warm up, exercise progression that meets the client's needs/ goals, and stretch/ cool down. As the session progresses, I adjust my plan based on client needs and performance. I ensure that the client executes proper form for each exercise: I want to every client to exercise safely and effectively, and also to understand the proper muscles to engage so that they move properly in their other workouts. I balance my focus on precision with a down-to-earth demeanor: I keep my training sessions friendly and enjoyable while motivating the client to work harder than he/she thought possible. I ensure the client keeps moving and feels good with a workout that blends cardio, strength and flexibility.
A male client came to me because he wanted to lose weight and build muscle, but had a very limited budget and could not afford a gym membership. I developed home workouts for home with nothing but dumbbells and a pull up bar. He has become JACKED! He works out 4-5 days a week and has never joined a gym. I review all of his exercises with him in person and adjust his exercises based on his goals and muscle imbalances. I update his lifts every 6 weeks. I also educated him about nutrition and provided him with a personalized nutrition plan. I review his food diary every week and provide feedback and constructive suggestions. He has maintained an extremely muscular physique and is the leanest he has ever been in his life. A client came to me because she wanted to lose weight but struggled with sugar addiction, emotional eating, and depression. I wrote a personalized nutrition plan for her and helped her with eating behavior, reducing sugar intake, coping productively with emotions and enhancing self-esteem. I provided consistent support, positive feedback and suggestions via email and text daily. In less than a month she achieved noticeable weight loss while her sugar addiction decreased, her self-control around food increased, and she began to feel better about herself and her journey. An actress came to me because she wanted to lose weight and increase muscle tone. However, she was limited in her exercise capabilities due to bad sciatica that caused pain during lower body exercises. I wrote personalized workouts for her that focused on her upper body and core. I assisted her with nutrition as well as strategies for combining and timing foods appropriately. She experienced dramatic increases in strength and muscle mass as well as losses in body fat. She began to enjoy lifting weights and the feeling of becoming stronger, and finally started to like herself. She said, "Thank you for everything Gabbi. For the longest time, I have felt ugly. I'm finally feeling good about myself." A client came to me because she was pre-diabetic and needed to get her eating and blood sugar under control. She also had high blood pressure and gastrointestinal issues like diverticulosis and acid reflux. I developed a personalized nutrition plan for her, taught her about carbohydrate servings, and helped her with eating behaviors. She committed to getting healthy and improving her eating- she stuck to our plan and contacted me with any questions. On her birthday this year, she found out that her fasting blood sugar had normalized for the first time! (Blood sugar is always too high in diabetes). Hearing that news meant the world to me; I was so proud of her work and commitment, and felt so thankful that I could help and make a positive difference in her life.
