Hi, my name is Emily. I'm an experienced strength and conditioning coach, competitive CrossFit L-1 coach, Olympic-style weightlifting coach with a high knowledge and experience in the exercise science field. I am a certified strength and conditioning coach through the NSCA, a CrossFit Level 1 coach, and a USA Weightlifting coach (specific to Olympic style Weightlifting). I graduated from Hofstra University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and Northeastern University with a master's degree in exercise science. I have been in the field for 10 years with experience in both private one-on-one strength and conditioning (ages 10-18) and Division 1 strength and conditioning at Northeastern University (ages 18+), CrossFit coaching from beginner to advanced, and Personal Training (all levels). I am currently Strength & Conditioning Coach at a college in Providence, RI. I enjoy working with all levels to provide a beneficial knowledge of building strength and confidence in a gym setting. I have had great success in helping clients become more mobile, overcome pain and injury, lose weight and build a stronger and more agile body.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists
I start a client off with a dynamic warm up to increase heart rate and prepare the body for exercise along with activation movements to prepare specific muscles for the day's workout. Depending on a client's goals and needs, we work through specific strength exercises both total body and muscle specific in either a circuit or solo fashion. We will then move through a high intensity metcon (cardio/conditioning) to increase the heart rate and work specifically in the fat burning zone. At the end of the session we will stretch out and cool down the muscles.
I had never used a personal trainer before, but wanted to see what added benefit a trainer could provide to my workout. I was expecting only to use the free session and then do workouts on my own. Emily was the trainer assigned to my free session. After working with her that first time and meeting with her briefly afterwards, I decided to try twice a week sessions for a couple of months. I have enjoyed working with Emily. She quickly found my principle weaknesses and designed workout routines to make progress as quickly as possible. She also varies the routines and never lets me get bored. Emily also seems to know when to push me harder (more reps, 1 more set) and when to move on to the next exercise. I saw such good signs of progress in my strength and stability, that I extended the workouts for an additional 6 months. With Emily’s help, and many sore muscles, I am much stronger all around, especially upper body, which was a weakness for me.

A couple of years ago, I decided I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was paired with Emily as a trainer, and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. She challenges me every week to accomplish things I didn't know my body was capable of. It's not always pretty, but with her encouragement and support I went from a wheezing mess trying to do one simple push-up to smoothly lifting over 130 lbs. She's helped me grow in not only strength but confidence. She's kind, patient, and knows just how far to push you to reach your goal. She's an incredible trainer and a huge asset to CAC.

I have been working with Emily for almost a year. I am 62, had not worked out in years and was finally beginning to lose some weight. I wanted: a-to continue losing weight; b-work with someone who could make sure I was doing the exercises safely as I had no idea where to even start, and lastly to increase my endurance as I was always the last one in any family hikes and could not climb stairs without needing a break.
Emily is able to blend the right amount of enthusiasm and instruction so our sessions are never dull or lacking in being challenging to push my body. She evaluates me carefully as we go through the exercises to correct any misalignment or unsafe movements as well as checking in with me to make sure I am not hurting. I now have some noticeable muscles in my arms, have continued to lose weight and am toning up in most areas of my body and can now climb up 8 flights of stairs. Emily keeps me motivated to continue and offers positive reinforcement just when it is needed. I feel fortunate to be working with her and would definitely recommend her to all!
