What to Expect
Clients can expect a focused approach on what they can achieve. I don't believe in pushing someone aggressively for the sake of profits, our bodies are designed to achieve the same things but in a de-conditioned state clients can become injured and lose interest . One can achieve their goals systemically through NASM's Opt model. I have learned that training is a lifestyle that if embraced can affect various areas of your life. Whether stress or anxiety, depression or the feeling of unaccomplished goals please know that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Change is inevitable and you always will play a role in your success.
Client Success Story
Seven years ago I worked with a young man whose de-conditioned state left him with little to no mobility. He never weight trained nor understood the importance of nutrition. He admitted he was never athletic or had motivation to get his self into shape, and often felt embarrassed going into gyms that featured in his own mind " perfectly toned" people. I got him to slowly start to move and as he gained more flexibility then progressed him to weights and eventually to a boxing workout. He lost 100 lbs off his 325 lb frame and has successfully kept the weight off. We often talked about conscious decisions when it came to eating and also the importance of being active.

Clev is great. He pushes my wife and I hard, but not so hard that we'll hurt ourselves. We're already seeing results after just a couple weeks. Highly recommended.
My experience with Clev was excellent. We met consistently and from the beginning he was a great trainer. Each day we got right into the work outs and hit it hard. Clev is very patient, personable, and has truly sparked a love for fitness within me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Clev and I think anyone that utilizes him as a trainer will also be pleased!
I’ve only been to two sessions, and I’m already sold. This guy knows his stuff and is incredibly reinforcing throughout the entirety of the session, making you actually WANT to push yourself! I feel like I lucked out by finding Clev, and plan to work with him for as long as I’m able to! 5 stars!
Very professional, always on-time, and well-prepared classes. He adapts the classes to your level, but is always trying to help you get to the next level. He brings a lot of variety, so you'll never get bored. Very responsive. Highly recommended.
I've never been more disappointed by the behavior and professionalism of a trainer in my life! Like some comments for Clev I was sold on his training philosophy and methods. He talked a good game over the phone but his actions in person did not match up. Please note that most of his reviews are from 2015, 3 years ago and not based on clients in Northern, VA.
I did state to him my issues with past trainers on lateness and overall professionalism. We made it through 2 sessions before my third turned into a disaster. I was informed by Clev he would be late 10 minutes and he was late 15 minutes. He never even acknowledge his tardiness in person. He insulted me with a comment about my size being a waste of genetics. He sent me a workout plan that was ill-formatted and not clear on what exercises to do per day, just the body part. This was in addition to him providing sample meal plans that look as if it was thrown together.
I decided to communicate to him just my minor concerns on his tardiness and format of documentation from the meal plans to workout plans. I did so in a constructive and positive manner, even stating what I like about his training and that I'd like to continue. Lo and behold he responded to my email by acknowledging my legit concerns and flipped everything on me. He talked about rectifying my concerns for future clients, brought up his tolerances and sensitives, and how he enjoyed working out with me.
But then, he called me out for not telling him my concerns in person and decided to end the partnership. He cancelled my two planned sessions and then asked to keep in touch. SERIOUSLY I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE WROTE AND HIS REACTION. Mind you if he didn't like that I communicated via email (which I have every right to do as people have different ways they communicate), but why wouldn't he call me instead of responding via email. After texting, he sent a long text saying, "we had a client trainer relationship and my concerns were valid. But I should've addressed my concerns differently and it hurt his ego that I sent an email. He accused me of wanting his to gravel about being late. He also said, "giving this current climate he has a right to end things and to stay in touch."
I mean I can't believe he actually said what he said in text. What so called professional trainer would behave and react the way he did. Maybe I dodged a bullet by seeing his true colors. I don't mean to bad mouth Clev but what I experienced in the name of me trying to better my health was severely disappointing. No I don't or plan to keep in touch with Clev, why would I after how he treated me. Hopefully my negative situation can serve as a warning to others before using Clev as a trainer, as I would not recommend him to anyone.
I’ve been training with Clev for almost 2 years, doing a combination of boxing and weight lifting. He helped me stay motivated and fit through my pregnancy and has helped me get back in shape after having my baby. Clev always mixes things up and has good tips to share. Plus he’s fun to work with! I would definitely recommend him!
I started working with Clev a little over a year ago, after moving to the region. I had some experience with mixed martial arts training training and was looking to get back into it, while also trimming down and building strength.
Typically sessions are 45 mixed of cardio, comprised of boxing or muay thai style workouts then 15-20 minutes of weight lifting/strength training. I truly look forward to our sessions and it's been the best investment in my health I could have made. Over the course of the year, I've lost weight and built strength as well as confidence.
Since the beginning I found Clev to be knowledgeable about the sport of mixed martial arts, as well as fitness training/coaching in general. In addition, he is constantly taking courses to add to his skills and provide a better coaching experience. When I came to him I had terrible back problems. He was always able to design the workouts to accommodate my abilities without risk of injury. After finally having surgery to fix the underlying problem, and taking time off to recover, Clev was able to work with me again as I healed to develop my strength and flexibility. He will absolutely push you every session, in a safe and supportive way to make constant gains you might not have thought you were capable of.
Whatever your goals, if you're looking for a trainer you can't go wrong with Clev!
Coach Clev's fighting sports workout includes both intense cardio and total-body weight training. At the same time, I'm having fun and starting a foundation in boxing and MMA, which I intend to continue with. This is very important because, as Coach Clev teaches, we need to work towards making fitness a way of life, not just a temporary hobby. Thanks Coach!
I would like to share my personal experience that I had while training with Cleveland. He walked me through everything that we were going to be doing. He asked me about my problem areas and suggested different types of workout that we could do that would help my problem areas. He helped push me to reach my goals and left me feeling confidant that I could push my self to great limits when it comes to working out. All in all I would say that he is the best at what he does and I felt really great with every workout.
Cleve is a very knowledgeable trainer. Flexible teaching and instruction style. Patient with trainees and always willing to show new techniques and methods. He made sure the sessions were accustomed to my own fitness levels giving me time to adapt but at the same time challenging enough to give a good workout. A lot of variety in the workouts, keeping things fresh. Willing to listen to trainees input and custom workouts accordingly. Each session varies according to my needs and how I was feeling on the day, a lot more flexible than most trainers I've worked with. I am still currently working with Cleve at the moment and well on my way to achieving my goals but I've noticed improvements in overall fitness levels. Again each session was different from the previous session so I enjoyed the variety. I would highly recommend Cleve as a trainer as he's very punctual to his sessions and goes out of his way to help his clients reach their respective goals. A very down to earth individual also.
