About Me

I am a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and group fitness instructor through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). I have been in the fitness industry since 2007 and my specialization is in children, functional training and core training. I teach a variety of Les Mills classes which include spinning, weights, mixed martial arts, yoga, Pilates, tai chi, and core conditioning (names of the classes are: Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Flow, RPM, and CX Worx). And finally, I have graduate degrees in developmental psychology and have experience working with children as a school psychologist. I love helping people, including children, learn about nutrition, calorie control, working out, weight loss, and becoming a better and more rounded athlete. My ultimate goal is to fight our childhood obesity epidemic! Science tells us that a child who exercises and eats well will have better behavior, social/emotional development, self-esteem, will learn more in school, and SO much more! I STRONGLY believe that we have to get our children in this country moving and understanding how their bodies work!

What to Expect

In a typical training session there will be a light warm-up that will prepare your body for the workout ahead. The workout will be approximately 45 minutes and will be guided around the goals my client has shared that he/she wishes to achieve, as well as working on any muscular imbalances. I tend to focus on core a lot, because the most functional bodies have the healthiest cores. The client will then stretch (flexible muscles are less likely to "snap") and use the foam roller. I am a big believer in foam rolling and teaching clients how to do it properly, as well as making sure he/she understands the benefits of foam rolling. During the whole workout, I focus on form, technique, and educating clients WHY they are doing things, not just HOW to do them. Ultimately, I want people to go out into the fitness world and not feel like they "need" me.
