My name is Bharath and I graduated from Purdue Unviversity with a biology degree and a focus on neurobiology (biology of the brain). I also got a minor in psychology. I've always understood the brain and mindset is the key component to being successful in life. Since a young age, I've been involved in coaching. In high school, I coached basketball players, tennis players, and swimmers. After my college years, I worked 2+ years of in the physical therapy field. I grew a greater sense of appreciation for the human anatomy through this experience and I began developing my "professional eye" under the guidance of professional physical therapists to really understand body mechanics. Today, this helps me pay attention to detail with form and technique with my clients to ensure a reduced chance of injury during exercise while maximizing the benefits of each exercise. During my time in physical therapy, I also explored my interests and founded a more complete approach to healthy living. Like a true scientist, with an open mind, I followed my curiosity to explore and validate these truths for myself. I used by body as a laboratory and found what really helped me get to the next level both physically and mentally. I completed training and certifications in nutrition, personal training, yoga, and meditation. With this expanded skill set, I truly believe I have the skills necessary to help coach people to live happier, and healthier lives by forming habits of healthy living. I live by the mantra, “Practice What You Preach.” I've adopted daily life now to include, proper nutrition, fitness, yoga, and meditation.I am passionate about sharing my knowledge, experience, and wisdom with people of all ages and walks of life. I thoroughly enjoys working with people who are committed to raising their personal standard of health and fitness.

What to Expect

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR A NUTRITION COUNSELING SESSION: I encourage clients to keep track of their diet through My Fitness Pal so we understand our eating habits. Then we stay with the basics about what carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are and how much is recommended of each for the body. Then I use research based studies to help bring evidence as to why I suggest certain dietary changes. We also talk about the psychology or triggers of why we crave certain foods and see if we can bring enough awareness to the situation to help release us from our bad eating habits. ******************************************************************************** WHAT DO EXPECT FOR A FITNESS/WORKOUT SESSION: My style of fitness is focused of circuit training, more specifically, HIIT (high intensity interval training). We start class with a basic warmup circuit to get all the muscles warmed up. Then we move on to the workout set of the day - each day we focus on different muscle groups. The workout includes about 4 -5 different exercises that we do on a 20 - 40 second interval (depending on your fitness level) then repeat those same exercises for a total of 3 sets. We then cool then with some stretches to reduce muscle burn/fatigue for the next day. MY PHILOSOPHY ON FITNESS TRAINING: During the first few sessions, I focus on body weight exercises to strengthen the core of the body and fix postural misalignments. I believe that once the basics are mastered, then we can safely progress to a resistance/weight training program. This includes light to moderate (5 lb. to 25 lb.) resistance training with kettle bells and dumbbells. I also include cardio based exercises such as jump rope, agility ladder, cone drills, etc. ******************************************************************************** WHAT TO EXPECT FOR A YOGA SESSION: A yoga practice consists of breathing techniques (pranayamas), yoga postures (asanas), affirmations, and meditation. I also supply blocks, yoga straps, and blankets as props to aid for modifications to make certain yoga postures easier for the individual'd body type. YOGA PHILOSOPHY: I was schooled in the classical style of yoga. I teach a raja yoga based hatha yoga class that encourages a more relaxed pace of class. This form of yoga helps get the body and mind relaxed and ready for meditation. ******************************************************************************** WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A MEDITATION SESSION: This meditation can be done on a chair or sitting cross legged. I provide both meditation cushions and chairs for the class. A general meditation session starts with a body relaxation technique followed by a mental relaxation technique. Then we use specific concentration techniques to bring us in a deeply relaxed yet highly concentrated and alert state. We finally end class with an open meditation where we sit and enjoy the fruits of our labor from the concentration techniques. MEDITATION PHILOSOPHY: Meditation is the ultimate yoga technique. I believe that yoga and meditation go hand in hand so I love to include yoga breathing techniques to help us get ready for a pleasant meditation experience. ********************************************************************************
