Hi, my name is Amanda and I recently graduated this past May with a degree in exercise science. I've had about two years worth of experience training clients at a private university and big chain gyms such as LA Fitness and Equinox. I was a varsity runner all throughout high school where my liking for exercise began. My love and dedication for fitness and health however, began after an unexpected downturn in my own health. From then on, I’ve adopted an active and clean eating lifestyle, and never looked back.
American Counsil on Exercise
I love what I do! I am personal and energetic, which are very important qualities to have especially when you're starting training. Something that I think sets me apart is that I always bring enthusiasm and energy into my sessions. I believe that how a personal trainer acts and how the client reacts to that dictates the mood of the session and that relationship. Clients feed off of energy. That’s why I treat each session kind of like a mini boot camp or group fitness class. During each session you will find me mobile – I’m always moving about -, loud – to motivate and count down the time – and lastly, talking/laughing, having a great time. Exercise can be fun and when you have a personal trainer, it should be interactive. That’s why I take pride in building rapport with my clients and cementing that PT-client relationship.
For me, anytime a client willingly makes a step in the right direction when it comes to their health and fitness goals is a huge accomplishment. You can write the best exercise program for a client but if they aren’t motivated enough to do them then they won’t reach their goals. I make it my personal responsibility to be that person who guides them throughout the entire process, not just when they come and see me for 30 minutes twice a week. In order to be that person who motivates the unmotivated, I establish rapport. I keep building on that relationship and learn about their barriers and help them work around that so then they learn and they know and soon they will feel capable enough to make the right decisions. Since becoming a PT, I’ve had clients tell me that they couldn’t have started their journey without me and they have become more knowledgeable than when they first started. As a personal trainer, that’s the biggest praise than you can get. But if you want specific examples, I've helped clients... -lose up to 20 lbs in 6 weeks -lose 5% body fat in 6 weeks -adopt a cleaner, healthier lifestyle
