Hi, my name is Andrew. I started "training" my younger brothers and my teammates in high school, which led me to the National Academy of Sports Medicine when I graduated. I've since added their Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification to my CPT, and am currently working on the Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) with the American Council on Exercise (ACE). My background includes gymnastics, martial arts, freerunning and high school football. I believe it's very important for a trainer to provide a complete package to a client; it's not ONLY about the weight loss or strength goal. Nutrition, mobility, and stability are all important to living a pain-free and enjoyable healthy life, and they can be included without sacrificing your primary goals. Your body should be able to do whatever your mind instructs it to, without pain and without having to live like a professional athlete. That's what a trainer should offer their client.
National Academy of Sports Medicine
Depends on goals, but starting with a 10-minute warmup followed by core/balance/mobility training. Then, a 20-30 minute workout followed by a finisher for conditioning and extensive guided stretching to promote recovery and minimize soreness the next day.
A father-son client combo came to me with very different goals: the father needed to lose 40+ lbs and the son wanted to increase his maximum lifts past his current plateau. Both achieved the primary goals while also increasing their mobility and cardio-respiratory fitness levels.
